Line and Colour

Exploration of colour, shape, line and texture. Starting with watercolour portraiture, experiment with different additives both conceptual and physical to develop an understanding of the medium's material nature. Working quickly in creating self portraiture with mirrors, without time for hesitation or angst, allows for raw images aimed to raise the student's confidence in their drawing abilities while also teaching them to See. Working in a manner akin to drawing, and related to other units using the self as provocation for art making, the students create images of the self based upon both sight and touch combined. Focus on the spontaneous, the accident in the process of creating while learning to See and to render.
