DIGITAL/PHYSICAL

Artist in Residence, Stawell Secondary College

November 07, 2017

As part of an Artist in Residence program facilitated by the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, I led the Year 10 Art classes (and interested others) through an Augmented Reality (AR) Printmaking Project.  Another Artist had already visited the school in September and done some work using video manipulation apps with the students. This part of the project was intended to combine the Digital work with a Physical representation and create a bridge between them using an AR app.The looping GIF was created in Photoshop, using a Student's impromptu performance sculpture. From this animation, a single frame was chosen and converted to a high contrast black and white image that used to create 30 woodblocks, to be relief printed on individual pieces of paper and assembled to form a whole image. This was then used to link the Physical print to the looping GIF in the AR app.

The idea is to consider the implications of Digital spaces and artworks, and how they present into the physical worlds, combining purely digital methods with traditional printmaking techniques.

CR*ACK Augmented Realty

November 14, 2016

Series of animations made for an Augmented Reality App developer's kickstarter campaign. These were going to be paired with stickers that would then distributed as rewards for pledging to the campaign. Unfortunately, the campaign wasn't successful and nothing was produced.
