A way of asking students to think about their relation to the space they inhabit, and their expectations of the role they're being asked to assume (that is, a Teacher)

Wire Form Sculpture
May 07, 2017
This is the continuation of a Drawing exercise, learning to 'See' space three dimensionally. Key to learning to view the world is developing an understanding of depth, space, shape and form. Beginning with blind contour drawings of the MGSE studio space, the chosen architectural space was drawn and recreated in a variety of formats with the intent of developing a deep understanding of the relations within it. The final step was to learn to use wire as a drawing material. By asking the participants to not Sculpt but to Draw with the physical material we sought to expand their understanding of shape, form and space.
